Westville is a small community located in Kershaw County, South Carolina, in the United States. It's part of the larger Columbia, South Carolina, metropolitan area.
How Westville Got Its Name
Before it was officially called Westville, this area was simply known as the "West Section." This changed thanks to a local resident named John C. West. In 1888, Mr. West asked for a post office to be set up in the community. He then became the very first postmaster for the area. The post office officially changed the community's name to Westville in 1890.
