Westwood is a neighborhood located in the city of Peterborough, in Cambridgeshire, England. It's a place where many people live, and it's part of the Ravensthorpe area when it's time to vote in local elections.

Long ago, in 1903, a company called Baker Perkins moved to Westwood. They made big machines for factories. Later, in 2005, a special building called HMP Peterborough opened here. It was the first building of its kind designed to house both men and women.

A Look Back in Time

The building of Westwood as we know it today started in the mid-1960s. Before that, the land was used as RAF Peterborough. This was an important training base during the Second World War for pilots from many different countries, including the Allied forces and the Commonwealth.

Right next to Westwood, there was a place called Westwood Farm. It used to be a dairy farm named Horrells Dairies. Now, a company called New Covent Garden Soup Company is located there, making delicious soups!

Schools and Community

For younger students, Highlees County Primary School is right in the Westwood area. Older students usually go to Jack Hunt School in nearby Netherton. The local church for the area is called St Jude's.
