The Weyerhaeuser Office Building is a special building in Everett, Washington. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is an important historical place in the United States. The building was built a long time ago, in 1923.

A big company called Weyerhaeuser asked an architect named Carl Gould to design it. Weyerhaeuser was a very large employer in Everett back then. They wanted a building that would show off local woods. These included fir, cedar, and hemlock.

This building is quite unique. It has a huge, strong vault inside. This vault is two stories tall and made of concrete and steel. It weighs an amazing 160 tons! It was first used to keep the company's payroll safe. The building looks like an old Gothic-style cottage. It was first built at the company's main lumber mill, known as Mill A.

A Building on the Move

The Weyerhaeuser Office Building has moved several times! Imagine moving an entire building.

First Big Move

The first time it moved was in 1938. Workers used a large barge to float it up the Snohomish River. It went to another Weyerhaeuser location called Mill B. This mill was near the Legion Memorial Golf Course. The building was used as office space there for many years. It stayed there until the mill closed in 1979.

Moving to the Port

In 1983, the building found a new home. It was given to the Port of Everett. The Port moved it again, this time to its south marina. For a while in the 1980s, it served as an office for the Chamber of Commerce.

A New Future

The building moved one more time in July 2016. It went to Boxcar Park, right by the water. This area is part of the Esplanade District. The building is now called the Weyerhaeuser Muse. There are plans to turn it into a place for performances. It will also be a clubhouse for the marina. The building was expected to open again around 2020.
