Whigville's History
Whigville has an interesting past! It was first settled and given the name Freedom in 1846. Imagine a small community starting up in the mid-1800s!
Years later, in 1891, the community's name was officially changed to Whigville. This new name stuck.
A post office was opened in Whigville in 1851. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, until it closed in 1934.
