What's the Story of White Bear?
Over time, White Bear has been known by a few different names. Some of these names included Bear Creek, Bear Creek Station, and Whiteledge. A post office was opened there in 1892. It was called White Ledge. This post office helped people send and receive mail until it closed in 1904. The name White Bear came from a special product. This product was made at a local factory called a lime kiln. A lime kiln is like a big oven that heats up limestone to make a material called lime.
