Whitlow is a small place, also known as a locality, located in Humboldt County, California. It used to be called Sequoia. This area is found in the northern part of California.
What is Whitlow?
Whitlow is a quiet spot situated near the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. It is about 7 miles (11 kilometers) east of a town called Weott. The elevation of Whitlow is about 180 feet (55 meters) above sea level.
The Story Behind the Name
Whitlow was named after a person named Albert Whitlow. He was the very first postmaster for the area. A post office is where people send and receive mail.
Whitlow's Post Office History
The post office in Whitlow was open for many years. It started operating in 1927. People in the area could send and get their mail there until 1965, when it closed down.
