Wii MotionPlus facts for kids
The Wii MotionPlus is a special device that plugs into your Wii Remote. It helps the Wii Remote understand your movements much better. Nintendo first announced it on July 14, 2008. The very next day, it was shown at a big video game event called E3. It came out in June 2009.
From May 9, 2010, new Wii consoles started to include the Wii Sports Resort video game and the Wii MotionPlus device.
The Wii U console can also use the Wii MotionPlus. This works for games where you don't need to use the Wii U's touch screen controller.
Wii Remote Plus: A Built-in Upgrade
On September 29, 2010, Nintendo announced a new controller called the Wii Remote Plus. This controller is a regular Wii Remote with the MotionPlus technology already built inside it.
This design makes it easier for players to use other special accessories. For example, you can attach a Wii Zapper without needing to remove a separate MotionPlus device first. The Wii Remote Plus was released in Europe on November 5, 2010. It came out in North America on November 7, 2010, and in Japan on November 11, 2010.
