Wii Speak facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Wii Speak was a special microphone made for the Nintendo Wii video game console. It let players talk to each other online while playing certain games. This device was released in 2008.

It was often sold together with the game Animal Crossing: City Folk. This allowed players to chat with friends who were also playing the game.

What Was Wii Speak Used For?

The main purpose of the Wii Speak was to add voice chat to games. This meant players could talk to friends in real-time, making online gaming more interactive. However, not many games actually used the Wii Speak. This limited its popularity and how much people used it.

The Wii Speak Channel

Nintendo also released a special application called the Wii Speak Channel. This channel allowed Wii users to have voice chats with up to four other people who also had a Wii Speak device. It was a way for friends and family to talk to each other using their Wii consoles, even when they weren't playing a game.
