Wikibooks is a special online library. It offers many free books for everyone to read. This project is part of the Wikimedia Foundation. The Wikimedia Foundation also runs other famous sites like Wikipedia.
Wikibooks is a wiki. This means that anyone can help write or edit the books. You can find all sorts of textbooks here. Some books are completely new. Others started from free textbooks found online.
All the content on Wikibooks is covered by the CC-BY-SA license. This license means you can use and share the books freely. You just need to say where you got them from. You also need to share any new versions under the same license.
What is Wikibooks?
Wikibooks started on July 10, 2003. It was first called the Wikimedia Free Textbook Project. Later, it became known as Wikimedia-Textbooks. Its main goal is to create a huge collection of free textbooks. These books are for students and learners everywhere.
You can find books on many different subjects. There are books for school, for hobbies, and for learning new skills. Since it's a wiki, many people work together to make these books. This makes it a great place to learn and share knowledge.
Wikijunior: Books for Kids
Wikijunior is a special part of Wikibooks. It focuses on creating books just for children. These books are made to be fun and easy to understand. Wikijunior has both a website and a magazine.
This project is growing in many languages. You can find Wikijunior books in English, French, German, and Spanish. It is also available in Danish, Finnish, Italian, and Japanese. The Beck Foundation helps fund this amazing project.
Pages in Wikijunior have a special name. They start with Wikijunior: before the page title. This helps you know it's a book for younger readers.
