Wildcat: A Place in Kentucky

Wildcat is a historical location in the state of Kentucky. It is known for its creek and for having a post office that served the local community for many years.

How Wildcat Got Its Name

The name "Wildcat" comes from the animals that used to live in the area. In 1815, people who settled there often hunted wild cats. These wild cats were a favorite target for hunters. Because of this, the creek and the surrounding area became known as Wildcat.

The Post Office Story

A post office was officially opened in Wildcat on September 13, 1930. It was located right where Wildcat Creek meets Goose Creek. The very first person in charge of the post office was Lillie B. Hacker. This post office helped people send and receive mail for over 50 years. However, it eventually closed its doors in August 1985.
