Wildseed Farms is a very large wildflower farm located near Fredericksburg, Texas, in the United States. It is actually the biggest working wildflower farm in the entire country! The farm even won a special award in 2001 called the Garden Center Innovator award.

How Wildseed Farms Started

The farm first opened its doors in 1983. It was originally in a town called Eagle Lake. Back then, it mainly grew and sold seeds. At first, people could only visit the farm in April each year.

These visiting days became super popular! So many people wanted to see the farm. Because of this, the owners, John and Marilyn Thomas, decided to move the farm to a place that was easier for everyone to reach. In 1995, they bought the land where the farm is now, right on Texas State Highway 290.

They worked hard to build a new shop and a visitor center. These new buildings were finished in 1997. Fredericksburg, the nearby town, has an old-fashioned look from the 1800s. So, the main buildings at Wildseed Farms were built to match that charming style.

What You Can Do at Wildseed Farms

Wildseed Farms makes about $4 million in sales every year. About $1.5 million of that comes from the shop at the farm. This shop is very busy, especially between March and May. During these months, around 100,000 people visit the farm!

Besides selling plants and seeds, the farm has other fun things to see and do. There's a special area where you can watch butterflies. The farm also hosts live music concerts and other exciting events for visitors.
