William "Will" Bynum (born January 4, 1983) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a point guard. Will Bynum played college basketball for the University of Arizona and Georgia Tech. Even though he wasn't picked in the 2005 NBA draft, he went on to have a great career. In 2007, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Israeli Basketball Premier League Finals.

Will Bynum's Early Life and High School Basketball
Will Bynum grew up in Chicago. He went to Crane High School. There, he played basketball for coach Anthony Longstreet.
High School Achievements
In his junior year (1999–2000), Will was amazing. He scored about 22 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and made 7 assists per game. He led his team, the Cougars, to a 20–9 record. They even made it to the Class AA Elite Eight tournament. Because of his great play, he earned all-state honors.
On November 14, 2000, Will officially decided to play college basketball. He chose the University of Arizona.
In his senior year (2000–01), Will continued to shine. He averaged 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. He was named the best player in Chicago Public Schools. The Chicago Tribune also picked him for their first-team all-state list.
In 2001, Will Bynum was featured in a documentary called "Preps: Chicago Hoops." This series followed five Chicago high school basketball stars. It showed their journey as they prepared to play in college or the NBA.

Will Bynum started his college career at the University of Arizona.
Playing for Arizona
In his first year (2001–02), Will averaged 6.4 points per game. He showed his scoring ability by getting double-digit points nine times. In the summer of 2002, he played well on Arizona's tour of Australia. He averaged 12.8 points.
Will played only eight games in his second year at Arizona. He decided to leave the team on January 6, 2003. He then joined Georgia Tech a week later. He wanted to be closer to his mother, Rose, so she could watch him play more often. For the rest of that season, he practiced with Georgia Tech.
Success at Georgia Tech
Will became eligible to play for Georgia Tech in late 2003. In the 2003–04 season, he played 30 games. He averaged 9.6 points and 2.5 assists. Georgia Tech had a fantastic season, finishing as the National Runner-Up.
In the National Semifinal game against Oklahoma State, the score was tied. Will Bynum made a game-winning shot with only 1.5 seconds left. This amazing play sent the Yellow Jackets to the championship game!
In his senior year (2004–05), Will was named to the ACC All-Tournament first team. He averaged 20.7 points in three tournament games. He also set a Georgia Tech ACC Tournament record by scoring 35 points in a semifinal win over North Carolina. For the season, he averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
Will Bynum's Professional Basketball Career
After college, Will Bynum was not chosen in the 2005 NBA draft. However, he didn't give up on his dream.
Starting in the NBA D-League
Will joined the Boston Celtics for the 2005 NBA Summer League. He later signed with the Celtics but was waived. On November 3, 2005, he was picked by the Roanoke Dazzle in the NBA D-League draft.
On March 17, 2006, Will signed a short contract with the Golden State Warriors. He signed another contract later that month. On March 29, 2006, he was named the 2006 NBA D-League Rookie of the Year. He then signed with the Warriors for the rest of the 2005–06 season.
Playing in Israel
On September 6, 2006, Will Bynum signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. He helped Maccabi win the 2007 Israeli Basketball Premier League championship. He was even named the MVP of the 2007 Israeli Basketball Premier League Finals.
Will played for Maccabi again in the 2007–08 season. He helped them reach the Israeli Cup final and the EuroLeague Final. In 24 EuroLeague games, he averaged 10.6 points and 3.0 assists.
Time with the Detroit Pistons

Will Bynum joined the Detroit Pistons for the 2008 NBA Summer League. On July 30, 2008, he signed with the Pistons. On April 5, 2009, he had an amazing game. He scored a team-record 26 points in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with 32 points, leading Detroit to a win.
On March 12, 2010, Will made a career-high 20 assists in a game. This was the first time a Pistons player had 20 or more assists since Isiah Thomas in 1985.
Will re-signed with the Pistons in 2010 and again in 2013. He played for the team until 2014.
Playing in China and with the Washington Wizards
On December 5, 2014, Will Bynum signed with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China. He played well, averaging 22.3 points and 7.1 assists in 30 games.
On March 27, 2015, Will signed a short contract with the Washington Wizards. He later signed with them for the rest of the season.
In August 2015, Will returned to the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China. He played 29 games, averaging 17.8 points and 6.5 assists.
Later Career Teams
On September 20, 2016, Will Bynum signed with the Atlanta Hawks. He later joined the Windy City Bulls on December 23. In his first game for Windy City, he scored 20 points and had 10 assists.
On January 20, 2018, Will signed with the Turkish club Yeşilgiresun Belediye. He officially ended his professional basketball career in 2018.
Will Bynum's Family Life
Will Bynum is the son of William and Rose Robinson. He has eight brothers and sisters. His father, who worked with steel, passed away in 2007. His mother has diabetes.
Will is married and has two daughters. Their names are Laila Rose (born in 2007) and Aliya Gloria (born in 2012).
