Willard Bruguier's Darts Journey
Willard Bruguier is a police officer. He also has a passion for playing darts! In 2017, he decided to try out for a big darts competition. This was the 2017 US Darts Masters.
To get into the main event, players first have to go through "qualifiers." These are like smaller tournaments. Willard won his second qualifier, which earned him a spot in the North American Championship.
Big Wins and World Stage
In the North American Championship, Willard played really well. He won his quarter-final match against DJ Sayre. Then, he won his semi-final match against Dawson Murschell.
His final match was against a very experienced player named Dave Richardson. It was a super close game! Willard won in the very last leg, which means the game went down to the wire.
Winning this championship was a huge deal. It meant Willard got to play in the 2018 PDC World Darts Championship. This is one of the biggest darts tournaments in the world!
Playing at the World Championship
At the 2018 PDC World Darts Championship, Willard played in the preliminary round. This is an early stage of the tournament. He faced Cody Harris from New Zealand.
Willard played his best, but he lost the match 1–2 to Cody Harris. Even though he didn't win the whole tournament, just getting to play on such a big stage was a great achievement for him.
