William Augustus Barron learned to paint from another artist named William Tomkins. He was also the younger brother of Hugh Barron, who was also an artist.

In 1766, William Augustus Barron won an award from the Society of Arts. He worked as a landscape painter, creating beautiful pictures of nature. He also taught people how to draw.

William Augustus Barron was very good at playing the violin. He was so skilled that he met an important person, Sir Edward Walpole. Sir Edward Walpole helped him get a job working for the government in a place called the exchequer. He kept this job until at least 1808.

His Artworks

William Augustus Barron created several paintings that were later made into prints. One of his paintings, a view of Wanstead House, was turned into an engraving by an artist named Picot in 1775. He also painted a series of pictures showing castles and other scenes from different parts of Essex.

You can find a large drawing he made of Richmond Bridge from 1778. This drawing is kept in the print-room at the British Museum.
