William Brazier's Cricket Career
William Brazier was born in 1755 in a village called Cudham in Kent, England. This village is about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from Sevenoaks.
Playing His First Games
He played his very first big cricket game, known as a first-class match, in 1774. He played for a Kent team against a team from Hampshire. This game took place at a famous cricket ground called Sevenoaks Vine.
How Many Matches He Played
William Brazier played cricket for 20 years, until 1794. During his career, he played a total of 50 first-class matches. He scored 1,216 runs and took at least 42 wickets.
He played for Kent teams 28 times. He also played for other teams like West Kent and a combined team of Kent and Hampshire players. He even played in eight matches for England teams. In one game in 1776, he played for a Surrey team as a special guest player.
Brazier's Cricket Skills
William Brazier was known as a "useful all-rounder" in cricket. This means he was good at both batting and bowling. He was a right-handed batsman and bowled fast. People said he could hit the ball very hard.
