William Henry Drummond, 7th Viscount Strathallan (born March 5, 1810 – died January 23, 1886) was a Scottish politician. He was known as the Master of Strathallan from 1826 until 1851. He belonged to the Conservative Party.
William Henry Drummond is also sometimes called the de jure 9th Viscount Strathallan. This is because a special rule had taken the family's title away in 1746. This rule was changed back in 1824, allowing his family to get the title back.
Early Life and Family Connections
William Henry Drummond was the son of James Drummond, 6th Viscount Strathallan. His mother was Lady Amelia Sophia. Her father was John Murray, 4th Duke of Atholl.
When his father's family title was given back in 1826, William Henry received the courtesy title of Master of Strathallan. A courtesy title is a title used by politeness, but it is not a legal title. He became the Viscount Strathallan when his father passed away in 1851.
A Career in Politics
In 1853, William Henry Drummond was chosen as a Scottish Representative Peer. This meant he was elected by other Scottish nobles to represent them in the House of Lords. The House of Lords is part of the UK Parliament. He joined the Conservative Party members there.
He worked as a Lord-in-waiting for the government. A Lord-in-waiting is like a government assistant or whip in the House of Lords. They help manage the government's business. He served in this role twice.
His first time as a Lord-in-waiting was from 1858 to 1859. He worked under the Earl of Derby. He served again from 1866 to 1868. During this time, he worked for both the Earl of Derby and later Benjamin Disraeli.

Lord Strathallan married Christina Maria Baird in 1833. She was the daughter of Robert Baird. Christina Maria passed away in 1867.
William Henry Drummond lived for almost twenty more years after his wife died. He passed away in January 1886 when he was 75 years old. His son, James, took over the title of Viscount after him.
