William Fogerty was born around 1833 in Limerick, a city in Ireland. When he was a young man, in the early 1850s, he studied at Queen's College, Cork. This is where he learned many of the important skills he would use in his career as an architect.

His Career Journey

William Fogerty moved around quite a bit during his career.

  • In the early 1860s, he moved to Dublin, the capital city of Ireland.
  • Later, in the early 1870s, he moved to London, England, and then even further to New York City in the United States.
  • He returned to Dublin in 1875. His main office in Dublin was located at 23 Harcourt Street, Dublin.

His Later Years

William Fogerty sadly passed away at the age of 44 in 1878. He died from smallpox, a serious illness that was more common in those times. Even though his life was not very long, he left behind a legacy as a respected architect who worked in many important cities.
