Willie Morganson's Rugby Career
Willie Morganson grew up in North Queensland. He was a talented young rugby league player with Indigenous heritage. He showed great promise from a young age.
Early Days and Junior Teams
When he was just 17, Willie played for the Queensland under-17 team in 1989. The next year, in 1990, he played for the Queensland under-19 team. These teams help young players get ready for professional rugby.
Playing for the Brisbane Broncos
Willie made his big debut in professional rugby league in 1991. He played his first game for the Brisbane Broncos in a win against the Canberra Raiders. Over three seasons, he played 18 games for the Broncos. He even scored his first two tries in one game in 1991!
Joining the North Queensland Cowboys
In 1995, Willie became a founding player for the new North Queensland Cowboys team. This was a big moment for rugby league in North Queensland. He started as a centre in their very first match. During his two seasons with the Cowboys, he played 12 games and scored four tries.
Time in England with Sheffield Eagles
After playing in Australia, Willie moved to England in 1996. He joined the Sheffield Eagles team. He played for them for two seasons before coming back to Australia.
Playing for Queensland Police
