Willem Louis Joseph Boost (born July 2, 1918, in Breda, died August 1, 2005, in Breukelen) was a talented Dutch cartoonist. He was best known by his artist name, WiBo. Boost's Early Career
WiBo started his journey as a drawing teacher, sharing his artistic skills with others. Later, he joined the famous Toonder studios. These studios were well-known for creating popular comic strips and animated films. Working there helped Boost develop his unique drawing style even further.
Drawing for Newspapers and Magazines
Over his long career, WiBo drew for many different publications. He contributed his cartoons to several journals and newspapers. Some of these included Jeugdkampioen, Het Lichtspoor, Mandril, and Studio.
From 1952 to 1955, he also worked for the Haagse Post. One of his most important roles was at the Dutch national newspaper de Volkskrant. He worked there from 1951 all the way until 1985. For many of those years, he drew a daily cartoon that appeared right on the front page of the newspaper. This made his art a daily part of many people's lives.
