Windmill Hill is a special chalk hill in Hampshire, England. It sits right next to the A3(M) road. This hill looks over the village of Chalton to the east and Clanfield to the west. Windmill Hill is about 193 meters (or 633 feet) above sea level.

It gets its name from the Chalton Windmill that stands proudly at its very top.

The Famous Windmill

The windmill on Windmill Hill is a very old and important building. It is known as a Grade II listed building. This means it has special historical value and is protected. For many years, the windmill was empty and falling apart. But in the late 1970s, it was fixed up. Now, it is a private home where people live.

Exploring the Area

On the northern side of Windmill Hill, you'll find a place called Bascomb Copse. This is where Butser Ancient Farm moved in 1991. Butser Ancient Farm is a fun place to visit. You can learn about how people lived long ago.

There are many walking paths all over Windmill Hill. Some of these paths lead to the small village of Blendworth. From there, you can walk to Horndean to the south. You can also walk north to Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Butser Hill. These places are great for outdoor adventures and are not too far away.
