Wings of Dreams was an aviation museum. It was located at the Keystone Heights Airport in Starke, Florida. The museum taught visitors about the history of flight. It focused on important events in aviation.
About the Museum
The museum showed how the Keystone Heights Airport helped during World War II. This airport was once called Keystone Army Air Field. It was a place where pilots learned to fly. They trained there to get ready for big events like the Normandy Invasion. This was a very important part of World War II.
What You Could See
Wings of Dreams also had exhibits about the Women Airforce Service Pilots. These brave women, often called WASP, flew planes during World War II. They helped by moving aircraft and training other pilots. The museum also explored the United States space program. It showed how humans explored space. There were plans for the museum to get a training simulator. This simulator was used for the space shuttle program. However, the museum closed before this could happen.
Why It Closed
In January 2019, the Wings of Dreams museum faced problems. It was running out of money. The museum was also asked to leave the airport. Because of these issues, the museum had to close down.
