Winona has a notable event in its history involving a train.
The 1915 Train Accident
On March 28, 1915, a serious train accident happened in Winona. A train was crossing the Buffalo Creek Trestle, which was a bridge about 50 feet (15 meters) high. Sadly, the bridge broke, causing the train to crash. This accident destroyed both the bridge and the train. One person died in the incident, and four others were injured.
