Witold Sadowy (born January 7, 1920 – died November 15, 2020) was a famous Polish actor and writer. He worked in both films and theatre. He also wrote articles for newspapers like Gazeta Wyborcza and Życie na gorąco magazine.

Early Life and Acting Career
Witold Sadowy was born in Warsaw, Poland, on January 7, 1920. During the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, he sadly lost his father and brother. After the war, he returned to Warsaw with his mother.
Theatre Beginnings
Witold Sadowy started his acting career in 1945. His first role was Florian in a play called Le Bourgmestre de Stilmonde. He performed in many famous theatres in Warsaw. These included the City Drama Theatre, the Polish Theatre, and the Classic Theatre. He continued acting on stage until 1989. His last role was Field Marshal in a play called The Rosemary Twig.
Writing and Public Service
In the 1980s, Witold Sadowy began a new career as a writer. He wrote about theatre for several newspapers. These included Życie Warszawy and Express Wieczorny. He also wrote for the New York-based Nowy Dziennik.
Chronicler of Theatre
From 1985, he regularly wrote for Gazeta Wyborcza. He published many books about theatre and film. People knew him as "the chronicler of Warsaw's theatre life." This means he recorded and wrote about the history of theatre in Warsaw. The Polish Union of Stage Actors recognized his important work. They gave him the title of distinguished member.
Personal Life and Later Years
Witold Sadowy lived a long life, reaching 100 years old. He shared his life with his partner, Jan Ryżow, for many years. Their partnership lasted from 1942 until Jan Ryżow's death in 1996. Witold Sadowy passed away on November 15, 2020.
