What's the Story About?
A Strange Vacation Plan
The story begins when Nita's sister, Dairine, signs up for a special exchange program. This program lets kids visit planets far away. Dairine does this without asking for permission first! Because of this, Nita and Kit, who are also young wizards, have to take over the mission.
They think their destination, a planet called Alaalu, will be a perfect vacation spot. It seems very peaceful and calm. Meanwhile, the alien exchange students who come to Dairine's house on Earth are quite unusual.
Secrets on Alaalu
Nita soon starts having bad dreams. She realizes that Alaalu is hiding a big secret. The planet seems perfect, but it's actually stuck in time. Nothing changes or grows there. This happened because the people of Alaalu once refused a "gift" that would have allowed things to change and evolve.
Now, the young wizards must convince the only wizard on Alaalu and her people to accept change. This is a big challenge! If they succeed, it will help the Alaalu people move forward, but it also means a powerful force will be set free.
Trouble on Earth
Back on Earth, the alien wizards staying with Dairine notice something dangerous. Earth's Sun is in danger of getting too hot, which could harm the planet. Luckily, one of the visitors comes from a planet that faced a similar problem before. He knows how to help, and they work together to save Earth from disaster.
Meet the Characters
Main Characters
- Nita (Juanita Louise Callahan): She is one of the main young wizards. When she arrives on Alaalu, she feels that things are too quiet and perfect. She suspects something is wrong and works to uncover the planet's secret.
- Kit (Christopher R. Rodriguez): Nita's wizard partner. He joins Nita on the exchange program to Alaalu and helps her figure out the mystery of the planet.
- Ponch: Kit's loyal dog. Ponch goes with Kit and Nita to Alaalu. He plays a key role in leading them to the hidden secret of the seemingly perfect planet.
- Quelt: The only wizard on Alaalu. Nita and Kit stay with Quelt during their visit. Quelt is important because she holds the key to helping her people accept change.
- Dairine E. Callahan: Nita's younger sister. She is the one who first signs up for the exchange program. Because she is "grounded" from traveling, she stays on Earth and helps her dad with the alien exchange students.
