Wolf Island is an exciting fantasy and horror book for young readers. It's the eighth story in Darren Shan's popular The Demonata series. The book first came out in Ireland and the UK in September 2008, and in the USA in May 2009. The main character, Grubbs, tells the story, which happens at the same time as another book called Death's Shadow.

The Story of Wolf Island

This book follows Grubbs on a dangerous mission. He teams up with friends to uncover secrets and face powerful enemies. The adventure takes them to a mysterious island filled with danger.

Fighting Demons and Finding Clues

The story begins with Grubbs, Beranabus, and Kernel fighting a demon in the Demonata universe. They try to get information about a mysterious entity called the Shadow. However, the demon doesn't tell them anything useful.

Later, Grubbs meets up with Shark, Meera, Bec, and Dervish. They learn that a group called the Lambs attacked the Grady family home. Grubbs decides he must go after the Lambs to find out why they did it.

The Search for the Lambs

Shark puts together a special team of soldiers, calling them the "Dirty Dozen." One of these soldiers is Timas Brauss, who is very good with computers. Timas helps them find the Lambs' secret headquarters.

When they arrive, they find a man named Antoine Horwitzer in charge. He explains that the leader, Prae Athim, is missing. Prae also stole hundreds of werewolves from their breeding facility.

Journey to Wolf Island

Timas discovers that Prae took all the werewolves to a place called "Wolf Island." Antoine agrees to go with Grubbs and the team to the island. They hope to find Prae and the missing werewolves there.

Trapped on the Island

On Wolf Island, they find Prae, but he is a prisoner. It turns out that Antoine and Juni Swan were behind the whole attack. Juni Swan arrives shortly after, and they are attacked by werewolves.

Grubbs and his friends try to escape on the helicopter they arrived in, but it gets destroyed. They then try to escape through a window, but more werewolves attack them. Shark is left behind fighting the creatures.

Grubbs Becomes a Leader

Grubbs, Meera, Prae, and Timas try to escape by sea. Werewolves cannot swim, so this seems like a good plan. However, they soon find themselves surrounded.

In a desperate moment, Grubbs transforms into a werewolf. He fights and defeats the leader of the pack. This makes Grubbs the new leader of the werewolves. He then commands the pack to attack Juni.

The Final Confrontation

Grubbs fights Juni, but she is too strong for him. Just as Juni is about to defeat Grubbs, she has a strange vision. She tells Grubbs that he is using powerful magic. Juni also says that the world is being destroyed, and that "the demons will not destroy the world, Grubbs Grady - you will." After saying this, she leaves.

Grubbs later finds Antoine trying to escape by boat. Grubbs agrees not to kill Antoine if he calls off his Lambs. Antoine must also make sure Bec and Dervish are safe. Once this is done, Antoine asks Grubbs to keep his promise. Grubbs says that he won't kill Antoine, but his werewolf pack might. Antoine is then attacked and killed by the werewolves.

On their way back to the docks, they find a severely injured Shark in a boat. He had fought and defeated the werewolves he was left to fight.

Back Home

When Grubbs finally gets back home, he finds Dervish has decided to stay and face danger instead of going to the Demonata world. A mysterious window opens, and Grubbs, Bec, Dervish, and Kirilli prepare for another fight.
