Wood is a small place in Missouri, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called DeKalb County.

You can find Wood in the northwest part of DeKalb County. It's located about 6.5 miles (about 10.5 kilometers) northwest of a town called Maysville. A stream named Lost Creek flows nearby, about half a mile (0.8 kilometers) to the east of the community.

A Look at Wood's History

The community of Wood was named after J. Wood, who was the first owner of the land where the community is located.

For a short time, Wood even had its own post office! It was called "Woods" and opened in 1898. However, it only stayed open for a few years, closing down in 1902.
