Woodleigh MRT Station facts for kids
Woodleigh MRT Station (NE11) is a train station in Singapore. It's part of Singapore's MRT system, which is like a big underground and overground train network that helps people travel all around the city. Woodleigh Station is located on the North East MRT Line.
This station was built in 2003. But here's a cool fact: even though it was ready, it stayed closed for eight years! Trains would pass right through it without stopping. It finally opened its doors to passengers in 2011. The station was built on land that was once part of the Bidadari Cemetery.

What is Woodleigh MRT Station?
Woodleigh MRT Station is one of the many stops on the North East Line. This line is shown in purple on the MRT map. It connects many different parts of Singapore, from the northeast to the city center. The station helps people living or visiting the Woodleigh area get around easily.
Why Was the Station Closed for So Long?
When Woodleigh Station was first built in 2003, the area around it, called Bidadari, was not very developed. There weren't many homes or businesses nearby, so not many people would have used the station. To save money and resources, the decision was made to keep the station closed. Trains still ran through it, but they didn't stop to pick up or drop off passengers.
Over the next few years, the Bidadari area started to grow. More homes and facilities were built. By 2011, there were enough people living and working nearby to make opening the station a good idea. So, on June 20, 2011, Woodleigh Station finally opened its doors to the public, eight years after it was built!
