Woodville, Missouri facts for kids
Woodville is a small, unincorporated community located in Macon County, Missouri, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
What is Woodville's History?
The area now known as Woodville has a long history. A post office was first opened here in 1837, helping people send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1907.
Originally, the settlement was called "Old Centerville." However, it wasn't until 1883 that the town site was officially platted. To "plat" a town means to draw up a map that shows all the streets, lots, and public areas, officially laying out the community's design.
