About the Main Event

The WSOP tournament happens once a year. Thousands of poker players take part in it. To join, players usually pay an entry fee, called a "buy-in." These fees can range from $1,500 to $10,000. In most games, players pay this fee once to get their starting chips. Some games might let players buy more chips if they run out. However, in other games, if a player loses all their chips, they cannot buy more and are out of the game.
