How Wortham Got Its Name
Wortham wasn't always called Wortham! It was first known as "Cherrytown." The community was officially mapped out, or platted, in 1904.
Later, in 1925, a post office opened in the area. It was named Wortham after an early postmaster, Ray Wortham. The post office helped people send and receive mail until it closed in 1969.
