She helps run the DartNets Lab. In this lab, scientists study how computer networks connect. She also co-directs the RLab. This lab explores virtual reality and robots. She visited other universities too. She was a visiting professor at National Taiwan University and the University of Cambridge.

Xia Zhou studied very hard to become a computer scientist. She earned her highest degree, a PhD, in Computer Science. She got this degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She finished her PhD studies in June 2013. Her teacher and guide during this time was Haitao Zheng.
