Early Life and Education
Y'lan Noel was born in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in Queens before his family moved to Decatur, Georgia. He has Afro-Panamanian heritage.
He started college at Morehouse College. Later, he transferred to New York University and studied at the Tisch School of Arts. He moved to Los Angeles to continue his acting career.
Acting Career
Becoming Daniel King in Insecure
In 2015, Y'lan Noel got the part of Daniel King in the TV series Insecure. He said that playing Daniel was a bit challenging because Daniel was very different from him.
Y'lan explained that Daniel was very confident. He always went after what he wanted. Y'lan felt a bit shy around people he liked, which was the opposite of Daniel.
Starring in The First Purge
In 2018, Y'lan Noel played the main role of Dmitri in the movie The First Purge. He found this role very demanding. He felt like he could really understand what his character would go through to survive the story.
Other Projects
In 2021, Y'lan Noel was chosen to play the lead role in a TV pilot. This show was based on the book The Spook Who Sat By The Door. The famous producer Lee Daniels was involved in making this show.
Personal Life
Y'lan Noel is a member of a college fraternity called Kappa Alpha Psi.
