Yohei Kajiyama (梶山 陽平, Kajiyama Yōhei, born 24 September 1985) is a former Japanese football player. He was a talented midfielder known for his excellent passing and ball control.

Yohei Kajiyama's Football Journey

Starting with FC Tokyo

Yohei Kajiyama was born in Koto, Tokyo on September 24, 1985. He started his football career early. He joined the youth team of FC Tokyo in 1998. By 2003, he moved up to the main team.

Kajiyama quickly became known for his skills. He was great at passing the ball. He could also control the ball very well. He was good at shooting with both his left and right feet.

Early Success and Key Wins

Yohei Kajiyama played many matches starting in 2004. That year, his team, FC Tokyo, won the 2004 J.League Cup. This was a very important win. It was the first major title for the club.

In 2005, he became a regular player. He played as a defensive midfielder. He continued to play many matches each season. In 2008, he was given the special "number 10" shirt. This number is often given to a team's best player. FC Tokyo won another J.League Cup in 2009.

Challenges and Triumphs

In 2010, FC Tokyo had a tough year. They finished 16th in the league. This meant they were moved down to a lower league, called J2 League. But the team worked hard. In 2011, FC Tokyo won the J2 League championship. They moved back up to the top league in just one year. That same year, FC Tokyo also won the 2011 Emperor's Cup.

Playing for Other Teams

In 2013, Kajiyama went to play for a team in Greece. This was a temporary move called a "loan." He played for Panathinaikos. He played 7 matches there. Later that year, he returned to FC Tokyo.

However, he didn't get to play much after returning. So, he went on another loan. This time, he joined Oita Trinita. He played several matches for them. But Oita Trinita finished last in the league that season.

Returning to FC Tokyo and Retirement

Kajiyama came back to FC Tokyo in 2014. Over the next few years, he played less and less. By 2018, he hardly played at all. In July 2018, he moved to Albirex Niigata, another team in the J2 League. He played 3 matches for them. Yohei Kajiyama decided to retire from football at the end of the 2018 season.

Playing for Japan's National Teams

Youth National Team

Yohei Kajiyama also played for Japan's national youth teams. In June 2005, he was chosen for the Japan U-20 national team. He played in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. He played 3 matches in this tournament. He played as a defensive midfielder.

Olympic Team

In August 2008, he was selected for the Japan U-23 national team. This team played in the 2008 Summer Olympics. He wore the number 10 shirt for Japan. He played in all 3 matches at the Olympics. He continued to play as a defensive midfielder.
