Yaniv Katan (born January 27, 1981) is a famous Israeli football player. He used to play as a forward or winger. Yaniv played professionally for Maccabi Haifa for most of his career. He also played for the Israeli national team, earning 31 caps and scoring five goals.

Yaniv Katan's Football Journey
Yaniv Katan spent almost his entire football career with Maccabi Haifa. He joined their youth team in 1990 when he was just nine years old. He then moved up to the senior team in 1998.
Playing for West Ham United
In December 2005, Yaniv signed a four-year contract with West Ham United. This is a football club in England. He joined his Israeli teammate, Yossi Benayoun, there. The transfer happened in January 2006. West Ham paid about £100,000 for him. Yaniv played eight games for West Ham, but mostly came on as a substitute.
Returning to Maccabi Haifa
After the 2005–06 season, Yaniv Katan moved back to Maccabi Haifa. He first went on a loan deal. This meant he played for Maccabi Haifa for a short time. Later, he made the move permanent. He signed a new four-year deal with his old club. This showed his strong connection to Maccabi Haifa.
Retirement from Football
