What is the History of Ye Village?

Ye was originally a place where animals grazed, known as a pasture. An old document from 1576 mentions this. This document is kept in the Archives of Teguise. It shows that Agustin de Herrera y Rojas, who owned the island back then, gave the property to his daughter Constanza.

Where Did the Name "Ye" Come From?

The name "Ye" comes from the Guanche language. The Guanches were the first people to live in the Canary Islands. Experts believe the name was first "Eyen." Over time, it became shorter, first to "Yen," and then finally to "Yé" or "Ye."
