Yeji is a town located right in the middle of Ghana. It is the main town, or capital, of the Pru East District in the Bono East Region. Yeji is very close to Lake Volta, which is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. The town is connected by major roads to other places like Ejura and Kwadjokrom. In 2010, about 29,515 people lived in Yeji.
About Yeji Town
Yeji and the areas around it are the original home of a group of people called the Chumburu. Another part of the Chumburu people live across Lake Volta in their own traditional area.
Languages and People
The Chumburu people in Yeji speak the Chumburung language. However, the way they speak it in Yeji is a bit different from how it's spoken in the Chumburung kingdom itself. Besides the Chumburu, other groups like the Konkombas and Gonjas also live in Yeji.
