Yekaterina Chemberdzhi (also known as Katia Tchemberdji) is a talented Russian pianist and composer. She was born on May 6, 1960. She is known for creating beautiful music and performing around the world.

Early Life and Musical Journey

Katia Chemberdzhi was born in Moscow, Russia. She comes from a family of musicians. Her mother is Valentina Chemberdzhi, and her grandparents, Zara Levina and Nikolai Chemberdzhi, were also composers. Katia started learning music when she was just seven years old.

In 1978, she went to the Moscow Conservatory. This is a famous music school where she studied how to compose music and play the piano. Her teachers included Nikolai Korndorf and Yuri Kholopov, who helped her develop her skills.

Career and Achievements

After finishing her studies, Katia Chemberdzhi taught at the Moscow Gnessin State Musical College from 1984 to 1990. In 1990, she moved to West Berlin, Germany.

Katia has performed as a pianist and shared her compositions at many international music festivals. Important festivals like Berliner Festspiele and Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival have asked her to create new music. Many famous musicians and groups have performed her works. These include The Hilliard Ensemble, the Sibelius Quartet, and the Münchner Kammerorchester.

She has also composed music for several films in both Russia and Germany. Her music helps tell the stories in these movies.
