Yevgeny Maximovich Titarenko (Russian: Евгений Максимович Титаренко; December 5, 1935 – April 28, 2018) was a Russian writer. He was known for his adventure stories and novels. Yevgeny was also the brother of Raisa Gorbacheva, who was the wife of Mikhail Gorbachev, a very important leader in the Soviet Union.

Early Life and Education

Yevgeny Titarenko was born on December 5, 1935. His birthplace was a small village called Yar Funny in the West Siberian Krai. This area is now part of the Altai Territory in Russia. His parents were Maxim Andreyevich and Alexandra Petrovna.

When he was a teenager, Yevgeny attended the Leningrad Naval Preparatory School. After that, he studied at the Leningrad Higher Naval School of Engineers. He later served as a sailor in the northern Arctic region. After his time in the navy, he moved to the Donbass area, where he worked in coal mines.

Yevgeny Titarenko then decided to focus on writing. He studied at the famous Maxim Gorky Literature Institute. After finishing his studies in 1965, he moved to the city of Voronezh.

A Writer's Journey

In Voronezh, Yevgeny Titarenko worked as an editor for a publishing house. He helped prepare books for publication. His first novel, Landslide, was not published. However, he soon found success with a different kind of story.

He published an exciting adventure story for teenagers. Its long title was Discoveries, Wars, Wanderings of the Admiral-Generalissimo and his Сhief of Staff on Water, on Earth and under Earth. This book quickly made him popular with young readers and critics.

Yevgeny Titarenko went on to write several other successful novels. Some of his well-known books include Four to the Мarket Рlace, Miner, Nikodimov Lake, and On a Small Рiece of The Universe. These books were published in both Moscow and Voronezh and were read by many people.

Family Life

Yevgeny Titarenko was married to Zoya Gaboeva, who was a poet from the Ossetian people. They had a daughter together named Irina.

Later Years and Passing

Yevgeny Titarenko spent his later years in a hospital near the village of Orlovka. He passed away on April 28, 2018, at the age of 82, after a long illness.
