Yileen "Buddy" Gordon (born on April 3, 1987) is an Australian rugby league player. He is known for playing as a centre, but he also played in the back-row. Yileen played for several teams, including the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, and Penrith Panthers.

Yileen Gordon's Rugby League Journey

Yileen Gordon began his professional rugby league career in 2005. He started with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. His first game for the Rabbitohs was against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in 2005.

Early Career and Feeder Clubs

When Yileen wasn't playing for the Rabbitohs, he often played for their feeder team, the North Sydney Bears. Feeder teams help players get more game experience. He played for the North Sydney Bears in their 2007 grand final. He even scored a try in that game. Overall, Yileen played 31 games for Norths and scored 17 tries.

Moving to New Teams

In 2008, Yileen signed with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. This was the same team he played against in his very first game. Later, in 2011, he joined the Penrith Panthers. His first game for the Panthers was a loss against the New Zealand Warriors. During his time with the Panthers, he mostly played for their feeder club, the Windsor Wolves.

Life After the NRL

After playing for the Penrith Panthers, Yileen Gordon continued to play rugby league. He also started working to help his community.

Community Work and Other Clubs

In 2012, Yileen played for Moore Park in a local league. He also worked at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence. There, he helped teach young Indigenous people about healthy eating and living.

In 2013, he joined the Newtown Jets. This team was a feeder club for the Sydney Roosters. In 2014, Yileen played for Thirlmere. He then joined the Wyong Roos in 2015, scoring two tries in his first game for them.

Special Achievements in Rugby League

Yileen had some important moments in his career. He represented the Indigenous team in the first-ever Indigenous All Stars Match in 2010. He also scored the winning try in the Indigenous Dreamtime versus New Zealand Maori game in 2008.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2017, Yileen was part of the squad for the Mount Pritchard Mounties in the NSW Cup. In 2018, he joined Wentworthville. He was released by Wentworthville at the end of 2018.

In 2019, Yileen returned to one of his former clubs, the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He played for their reserve grade team that year. In 2023, Yileen played for South Sydney in their NSW Cup grand final victory. They won against the North Sydney Bears.

Yileen Gordon played his final game for the Rabbitohs on August 30, 2023. The Rabbitohs confirmed his retirement after that match.

Current Role

Today, Yileen Gordon works as a program mentor for the Souths Cares program. This program is run by the South Sydney Rabbitohs team. It helps people in the community.
