Yin Jianling (simplified Chinese: 殷健灵; traditional Chinese: 殷健靈; pinyin: Yīn Jiànlíng) is a famous Chinese writer. She was born in October 1971 in Shanghai, China. She is best known for writing books for children and young adults, especially stories for girls. Besides writing, she is also a senior editor at a newspaper in Shanghai called Xinmin wanbao.
Her Education Journey
Yin Jianling grew up in Shanghai. She went to East China Normal University where she studied Law and Politics. Later, she continued her studies at Shanghai Normal University, where she earned a Master's degree in Chinese Literature.
Her Writing Life
Yin Jianling started her writing career very early. When she was just 18 years old, her poems were published in a magazine called Youth Literature and Art. Since then, she has written many different kinds of works. These include poems, essays, novels, and even news reports.
She used to be the main editor for a magazine for women. Now, she works as a senior editor for the Xinmin wanbao newspaper in Shanghai. In 1998, she became a member of the China Writers Association, which is a big group for writers in China. She also plays an important role in the Shanghai Writers Association. Yin Jianling is especially loved for her stories written for children and teenage girls.
Awards and Recognition
Yin Jianling has won many awards for her books. Some of her most important awards are the Chen Bochui Children's Literature Award, which is a very respected prize for children's books.
- 2014 – She won a Chen Bochui Children's Literature Award for her book The Sound of Fireflies.
- 2013 – She was nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA), which is one of the biggest awards for children's literature in the world.
- 2011 – She won another Chen Bochui Children's Literature Award for 1937 - Autumn in the Summer of Youth.
- 2007 – She received a Chen Bochui Children's Literature Award for To Future You - 15 Letters for a Girl.
