The Story of Yogoberry
How Yogoberry Started
Yogoberry was created by two sisters, Un Ae Hong and Jong Ae Hong. They were originally from South Korea but became Brazilian citizens. Un Ae used to be a flight attendant for Varig. Jong Ae is a nutritionist, someone who knows a lot about healthy eating.
The sisters lived in California, USA, for a while. There, they saw how popular frozen yogurt was becoming. They thought that frozen yogurt would also be a big hit in Brazil. Brazilians also care about eating healthy foods.
Creating the Perfect Recipe
Jong Ae used her knowledge of nutrition to make a special frozen yogurt recipe. She wanted it to taste just right for people in Brazil. The sisters spent more than a year researching the market. They wanted to understand what people liked.
Finally, in 2007, Yogoberry opened its very first shop. It was in Ipanema, a famous neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro.
Growing Beyond Brazil
Yogoberry quickly became popular in Brazil. In 2010, the company decided to expand to the Middle East. They signed a special agreement to open stores there.
In 2011, Yogoberry opened its first international shop. This store was in Tehran, Iran. The Brazilian Ambassador, Antonio Luis Espinola Salgado, even helped open it! Later, in 2018, another Yogoberry shop opened in Bandar Abbas, Iran. The Brazilian Ambassador, Rodrigo de Azeredo Santos, was there for that opening too.
