Early Documentaries and Awards

In 1987, Yolande directed her first documentary film called Classified People. This film was about apartheid in South Africa. Apartheid was a system where people were separated and treated unfairly because of their race. Her film won a big award, the Grand Prize, at the Paris Film Festival.

Her second documentary, Criminal Caste, was made in 1989. It was filmed in India. This film was chosen to be shown at the famous Cannes Film Festival.

First Feature Films

Three years later, Yolande Zauberman directed her first full-length movie, Me Ivan, You Abraham. This film was very successful. It won the Youth Award at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival. It also received the Golden St. George award at the 18th Moscow International Film Festival.
