A Long and Remarkable Life

Yone Minagawa became the oldest person in Japan in April 2005. This happened after another very old woman, Ura Koyama, passed away at 114 years old.

Then, on January 29, 2007, Yone Minagawa became the oldest living person in the entire world. She was 114 years and 25 days old at that time. She held this title until her death in August 2007. After she passed away, another 114-year-old woman named Edna Parker became the world's oldest living person.
