York is a small place, also known as an unincorporated community, located in Sandusky County, Ohio, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
A Look at York's Past
York has had a few different names over time. It was once called York Station and also Townsend.
An important event happened in 1853 when the railroad reached York Station. This would have helped people travel and goods move around more easily.
Before that, a post office opened in 1828, when the area was known as Townsend. This post office helped people send and receive letters for many years, staying open until 1905.
