Playing Career: Yamada's Football Journey
Yoshifumi Yamada was born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, on November 4, 1981. He started his football journey early. Yamada played for the youth team of Avispa Fukuoka. This team was part of the J1 League, which is Japan's top professional football league.
Starting Professional Football
In 2000, Yamada officially joined the Avispa Fukuoka senior team. Even though he was part of the main team, he didn't get to play in any matches during his first two years. At the end of the 2001 season, Avispa Fukuoka faced a challenge. The club was moved down to the J2 League. This is the second-highest professional football league in Japan.
Playing in the J2 League
Yamada finally made his debut in 2002. He played in some matches for Avispa Fukuoka in the J2 League. However, he still didn't play in many games during 2002 and 2003. He was a midfielder, a player who helps both attack and defense on the field.
Moving to a New Team
In 2004, Yamada moved to a new club called Otsuka Pharmaceutical. This team played in the Japan Football League. This league was a step below the J2 League. Otsuka Pharmaceutical had a very successful year in 2004. They won the league championship! Because they won, the team was promoted to the J2 League for the next season.
Retirement from Football
Even with the team's success, Yamada didn't play many matches in 2004. After that season, he decided to retire from professional football. He finished his career having played a total of 19 league matches and scoring 1 goal.
