Yoshikiyo Kuboyama (久保山 由清, Kuboyama Yoshikiyo, born July 21, 1976) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward for several years. After his playing career, he became a football coach.

Playing Career Highlights

Yoshikiyo Kuboyama was born in Yaizu, Japan, on July 21, 1976. After finishing high school at Shizuoka Gakuen High School, he began his professional football journey.

Starting with Yokohama Flügels

In 1995, Kuboyama joined the Yokohama Flügels team. He played his first professional game that year. For a few years, he didn't play much. However, by late 1998, he became a regular player. This means he was chosen to play in most games.

That same year, his team, Yokohama Flügels, won the Emperor's Cup. This is a very important football tournament in Japan. Kuboyama even scored a goal in the final match against Shimizu S-Pulse. Sadly, the Yokohama Flügels team was closed down at the end of 1998. This happened because of money problems.

Moving to Shimizu S-Pulse

After his first team closed, Kuboyama moved to his local team, Shimizu S-Pulse, in 1999. He quickly became a key player for them and played regularly for many years. In 1999, he scored 12 goals, helping his new team finish second in the J1 League. This is Japan's top football league.

Shimizu S-Pulse also won the 1999–2000 Asian Cup Winners' Cup. This was a big win against other teams from Asia. In 2001, they won the 2001 Emperor's Cup again. Kuboyama played a big part in these victories.

Retirement from Playing

In 2007, Kuboyama faced a serious injury. Because of this, he could not play any matches that year. He decided to retire from playing professional football at the end of the 2007 season.

Coaching Career

After he stopped playing, Yoshikiyo Kuboyama started a new career in coaching.

Coaching at Shimizu S-Pulse

In 2008, he began coaching at his former club, Shimizu S-Pulse. For several years, until 2015, he worked as a coach for the youth teams. This means he helped train younger players. In 2016, he became a coach for the main senior team.
