Yoshiyuki Kato (加藤 善之, Katō Yoshiyuki, born July 27, 1964) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He played as a defender or midfielder.

Yoshiyuki Kato's Football Journey

Yoshiyuki Kato was born in Tokyo, Japan, on July 27, 1964. He became a professional football player. He also worked as a manager for a football team.

Playing Days

After finishing high school, Yoshiyuki Kato joined a team called Yomiuri in 1983. This team later became known as Verdy Kawasaki. He played many games for them in the late 1980s. However, it was hard for him to become a regular starter. This was because the team had many players who also played for the Japan national team.

In 1995, he moved to a different team called Fukuoka Blux. This team was part of the Japan Football League. Yoshiyuki Kato played for Fukuoka Blux for one season. He then decided to retire from playing football at the end of 1995.

Coaching and Management Career

In 2009, Yoshiyuki Kato started a new role. He became the general manager for a club called Matsumoto Yamaga FC. This team was in the Regional Leagues at the time. As general manager, he helped run the club.

At the end of 2009, Matsumoto Yamaga FC was promoted. They moved up to the Japan Football League. In June 2011, the team's manager, Hideo Yoshizawa, left his position. Yoshiyuki Kato then took over as the new manager.

Under his leadership, the club finished in 4th place in 2011. This great result meant they could be promoted to the J2 League. However, Yoshiyuki Kato did not have the special license needed to be a manager in the J.League. Because of this, he stepped down as manager. He then went back to his role as general manager for the club.
