Yota Akimoto (秋元 陽太, Akimoto Yōta, born July 11, 1987 in Machida, Tokyo) is a Japanese footballer. He was born on July 11, 1987, in Machida, Tokyo. He plays as a goalkeeper, which means he protects his team's goal from the opposing team's shots. Currently, he plays for Ehime FC on loan from Shonan Bellmare.

Yota Akimoto's Football Journey

Starting in Youth Football

Yota Akimoto began his football journey at a young age. He first played for the CYD Football Club. Later, from 2000 to 2005, he joined the youth team of Yokohama F. Marinos. This is where he trained and developed his skills before becoming a professional player.

Becoming a Professional Player

Yota Akimoto started his professional career with Yokohama F. Marinos in 2006. He played for this team until 2011. During these years, he gained experience as a goalkeeper in the top Japanese football league.

Playing for Ehime FC

In 2012, Yota Akimoto moved to Ehime FC. He played for this club for two seasons, in 2012 and 2013. He was a very active player during this time, appearing in many games for the team.

Time at Shonan Bellmare

Yota Akimoto joined Shonan Bellmare in 2014. He played there for two years, until 2015. He returned to Shonan Bellmare in 2017 and played there again. During his time with Shonan Bellmare, he helped the team win the 2018 J.League Cup. This was a big achievement for him and the club.

Playing for FC Tokyo

In 2016, Yota Akimoto played for FC Tokyo. He continued to show his skills as a goalkeeper in the J1 League, which is the highest level of professional football in Japan.
