Youth facts for kids
Youth is a special time in a person's life, usually from the start of their teenage years until they become a young adult. It's when you are growing, learning, and figuring out who you are. While "young" can describe anything new, like a new car, "youth" mostly talks about people.
Things can be "young" or "old" at different speeds. For example, a new phone might only be considered "young" for about a year before a newer model comes out. But for people, youth is a much longer period of growth and change.
What is the Age of Majority?
When you are young, there are certain ages when you gain more responsibilities and rights. This is called the age of majority. It's the age when a person is legally considered an adult. In many places, this is around 18 years old.
Even after reaching the age of majority, some young people might still be seen as developing. This is because your brain and emotions keep growing and changing until you are around 21 years old. Also, many young adults are still gaining important life experiences that help them become fully independent.
The Idea of Staying Young
For a long time, people have been fascinated by the idea of staying young forever. Some people even become obsessed with looking young. They might use special creams or even have plastic surgery to try and keep a youthful look.
One famous story from history is about the Fountain of Youth. This was a popular myth about a magical spring that could make anyone who drank from it young again. People believed that if you found this fountain, you would never grow old. However, we now know that this was just a story and not real. It shows how much people have always wished to stay young!
