Yum Yum is a small place in Fayette County, Tennessee, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city. Yum Yum is about 7 miles north of Somerville. It's also 3 miles south of another interesting place called Zu Zu. A big new factory, Blue Oval City, is being built about 12 miles away. This factory will bring many new jobs to the area by 2025.
The Story Behind the Name
Have you ever wondered how places get their names? Yum Yum has a fun story! This community got its name from a brand of candy that was popular a long time ago in the 1800s.
Local stories say that a U.S. Senator named Kenneth McKellar was involved. A U.S. Senator is a person elected to represent their state in the United States government. Senator McKellar asked a local store owner, John J. Garnett, what they should call the new post office in the area.
Mr. Garnett thought for a moment and then said, "Just call it Yum Yum. There won't be another name like that!" And so, the community got its unique and sweet name.
