Yum Yum is a small, quiet community located in Fayette County, Tennessee, in the United States. It's not a city or a town with its own government, but rather a group of homes and businesses that are part of the larger county area. Yum Yum is about 7 miles north of Somerville and 3 miles south of Zu Zu.
About Yum Yum
Yum Yum is an unincorporated community. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or town. Instead, it's governed by the larger county, which in this case is Fayette County, Tennessee.
A big new development called Blue Oval City is being built nearby. This project is creating many new jobs in the area. By 2025, it is expected to bring around 6,000 new jobs, which is a big change for the region.
History of the Name
The community of Yum Yum got its unusual name from a brand of candy that was popular in the 1800s. There's a local story about how the name came to be.
The story says that a U.S. Senator named Kenneth McKellar was involved in setting up a new post office in the area. He asked a local store owner, John J. Garnett, what they should name the new post office. Garnett supposedly replied, "Just call it Yum Yum. There won't be another name like that." And so, the unique name stuck!
